Quack, quack, quack…
This’s the sound I always hear in Western Park.
Our lives are speeding up,
Schedules are dense.
We are walking away from nature and own life.
When I walked pass Western Park in last week,
I saw leaves were falling down.
I saw ducks were sleeping.
I saw children were chasing pigeons.
The sense was impressive, awesome and romantic.
We always want to go around the world and visit the ‘romantic’ landscape.
However, we forget the most beautiful and romantic senses are always nearby.
Slow down your steps, and enjoy the nature surrounding us!

Christmas! The first thing came up my mind is cold and freezing. Although I am a winter child, I’m not into winter just because of the weather.

I went to Manchester Christmas Market for fun. It’s pretty busy and crowded, but it made me feel Christmas. The Christmas Market located in the city centre, but some of the areas closed to each other when some were a bit far away from the main area. So it’s better to read the details online before you visited. I tried to walk around the market, but TBH I didn’t know where did I visit, and where I didn’t. Also, three stands were far away from the main area and had no people walked by. Feeling sorry for them. Anyway, the atmosphere in the market was awesome, and I enjoyed spending a whole day there.

In England, people start Christmas shopping in November. And most of Christmas Markets in England is started from the middle of November. In the Christmas Market, people can buy indoor and garden decorations, snacks and sweets, and presents for family and friends. It’s also a place for people to socialise, shop, dining, and of course, drinks.

Drinking is the major activities in the market! You never want to miss the mulled wine or hot chocolate on the market! It is the taste of Christmas. British even make mulled wine at home for Christmas. So there are thousands of different recipes for mulled wine. The tastes of each mulled wine in different stands are varied, and sometimes there is a surprise. In the Manchester market, the cups are designed differently by years. In this year, they provided two lovely designs. They are so cute. I took both of them home as souvenirs! You are requested to pay £2 deposit for a cup of each purchase. After you finish your drink, you can choose to return the cup and get the deposit back or bring the cup home.

(Blueberry mulled wine)

(Whisky hot chocolate)
There are different cuisine options in the market. The main options are definitely pulled pork, burgers and hot dogs. There are some more choices, such as Dutch pancakes and Germany sausages. So you never feel hungry inside the market.

In China and Hong Kong, there is a market similar to Christmas Market in Europe called the Lunar New Year Fair. The Lunar New Year Fair is only launched for two weeks and started before the Chinese New Year one month ago depends on the size and city. People attend to the market for flowers, New Year decoration, and snacks shopping. Also, Chinese believe they would bring the luck in the market home. In the fair, there are also some stands for games and snacks. Everyone enjoys the day at the fair.
Christmas is the warmest festival in winter. Nobody wants to miss the time spending with family and friends. Staying in a warm and decorated room, having a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine, and chatting with everyone you love. That is the perfect picture of Christmas. Baby, it’s cold outside is coming out of my head.
Christmas card is a traditional way to send words to others. Nowadays, people tend to use E-Card instead of an exact card because of different reasons, such as sustainability, cheap and convenience. But I prefer sending a card and write my own blessing to people I care and respect. I think this is the warmest and unique way for blessing and sharing love.
In this year, I don’t have much time to design and make cards as my submission dates are concentrated in December. So the theme in this year is doodling. It saves lots of time, and less is more.

My friends and I went to volunteer at a Christmas event in London in November. Because we always joked about baubles, baubles, bubbles. One of the girls is a bit annoyed to baubles now. So I made this to her! You can cut any shape you like, and draw a pattern frame. Then, write words in the middle

One of my friends is a cactus lover. I had taken care for her cactus for a year, so I draw this based on her cactus.
I have shared some of my Christmas card ideas to you. Let’s get some paper card, and make your own card to family and friends.

What would you do for Halloween? Hanging out for party and drinks? Dressing in a Halloween theme? Or just staying at home and watching TV?

In Halloween, we have a hundred options to celebrate it. It is becoming an excuse to celebrate and hang out with friends and dress up as another ‘me’. In the last few years in Sheffield, I went out with friends for fun. I decided my dressing and makeup in advance, like two weeks before. Last year, I was volunteering in a pub and dressing up like a demon to scare others and strengthen the atmosphere of frightening.
This year, I don’t want to go out. I just want to take a rest rather hanging out with friends. But it’s Halloween! I can do something else for celebration! So I bought a pumpkin!
The pumpkin is carved as Jack-O’-Lanterns and pumpkin spice cupcakes. The cupcakes are delicious because of the combination of Baileys and pumpkin. Um…Yummy! I love baileys. It is a big pumpkin, so there is some left. I decided to make a Chinese version of Pumpkin cake tomorrow.
Also, I made Halloween cards for friends. It’s a simple one. A Pumpkin card. It’s not difficult to make. Why don’t you make one for your friends next time?

What Autumn looks like?
Gold, Leaves and Cool.
It’s a perfect time to
hiking and go picnics.
However, everything changes.
Fall in Hong Kong recently is
Hot and Sunny.
Summer is extending.
Autumn in England is
Dark, Rain and Freezing.
Winter is coming earlier.
Will Autumn disappear in the future?
If so,
I will miss you.

I stayed in London with my friend, Jasmine in this September due to the ongoing student visa implication procedure for my Master degree. Jasmine’s auntie is warm and friendly. She suggested lots of places in London for us to visit, both the tourist sites and residential areas. I discovered various appearances about London in a month. I was enjoyed the time to staying with them.
In a beautiful Weekend, we decided to have a day trip to Brighton, a seaside resorts on the south coast of England. It is a popular day-trip destination for Londoners as it only takes an hour and 30 minutes drive from London. It’s not far away from London, but I didn’t manage to visit it when I was in the South. I was excited the day before the trip.

On the day, the weather was pretty nice, sunny and warm. The British love a sunny day. The normal weather in the UK is cloudy and wet, and I dislike this kind of weather. Although I am a winter kid, I love summer rather than winter because I can’t deal with the cold. Everyone wants to get out and enjoys the sun before the winter comes.
Brighton isn’t huge, neither small. The greatest thing about the city centre is the tourist areas and residential retail quarter are close to each other. It’s easy to observe and discover interesting stories or lifestyle here. Even we just stayed here for less than a day, I still enjoyed the time here and pleaed to visit apart of this beautiful city.

We went to the beach first. People were sailing, and some of them moved their boats back to the beach. I have no idea how it works and what is the feeling of sailing. It should be fun. I saw a girl went back with her smile, she seemed to enjoy it. We sit on the beach, enjoyed the sunshine and finished our brunch. It’s warm, but it wasn’t a comfortable place because of the gravel. We didn’t stay there for a long time, we then headed to the pier.
Brighton Marine Palace and Pier, known as the Palace Pier, is a Grade II listed pleasure pier. It is one of the representative architectures and popular attractions in Brighton. It is a Victorian-style pier opened in the 1890s. It was one of the chain piers in Brighton for the marine purpose, then became an entertainment venue in the 1900s. Now, it features a funfair, restaurants and arcade halls.
We walked through the walkways out to sea. It’s a different feeling of the sea a mile away from the seaside. It’s still broad and boundless, but much closer to the sea, and silent. The only sounds are waves, wind and seagull. I looked back to the beach and the city, it’s a different world, prosperous and bustling. I know why little mermaid wants to have legs and stay on the land. We didn’t play any rides and games there, just took some pictures and read the stories and history about the pier on the signs.

After that, we went to the Royal Pavilion, a Grade I listed royal palace built for the Prince Regent in the 19th Century. The Pavilion is in Indian-style which is a special symbol in the city. Now the Pavilion is partly open to the public as a park, but the Pavilion itself becomes a museum and charged. The museum is showcasing the history and stories of the architecture and the royal life. The day we went to, a mini-orchestra was playing music in the middle of the garden. The residents were sitting on the picnic mat or on the grass, having food and listening music. Also, some people were reading books, chatting, and sleeping on the grass on the other side of the park. It’s relaxing and leisurely.
We had fish and chip at one of the fish and chip restaurants near the beach. Someone said it was the most delicious fish and chip restaurant in Brighton. Taste is objective, some say good and some say no. For me, I love it, the fish is tender and crispy. I had cod, and my friend had the other fish, I forgot which one did her choose. I love cod and salmon, and I only order these two when I having fish.

Card making isn’t easy, neither difficult. All you need is time and creation. In the contemporary society, time is money, and everything is speeding up. People tend to buy a card rather make one to others. In Asia, especially in Hong Kong and China, the scenario of card blessing is less and less, it equals to old-fashion. People in Asian countries prefer to send a greeting message on phone in couples of festivals, like Chinese New Year, or personal occasion, like birthdays. People like me, living thousands of miles away from home, tend to send greeting message because it’s cheaper than sending cards.
The greeting messages in Asian are similar or same. People who receive those blessing, may feel upset and disrespected. Once, my friend stopped me to send him the united greeting messages as he sicked with it. I realised that united greeting messages were not a blessing, just a job to say ‘wish you all well’ on occasion. So I tend to make a personalised card or send a personal and special wishing to family and friends.
The card I made is inspiring from a Youtuber, K Werner Design. The background is water colouring and stamping with a ‘LOVE’ stamp in black ink. It’s simple, easy and pretty. Come on, why don’t you create a unique and beautiful card to someone you love? Let’s get card paper and start your card making. The joyful of receiving a homemade card is uncountable. People will feel warm and wonderful of receiving a nice homemade card.
